Autumn seemed to arrive suddenly this year. The morning of the first September was crisp and golden as an apple.
~ J.K. Rowling
The Arrival of Autumn is upon us. The first morning air is crisp and golden. How do you define what is calling you this season? I like to think of these these callings, as stakes for a “fall tent”. What will be your reference points, your stakes that your seasonal tent is built upon? Below are a couple things to think about as you approach this changing of the seasons, and find that inner direction within yourself.
How will you pitch your tent this season?
Here are a couple reflections as you prepare for the journey.
Reflection 1: Finding your Stakes
Are there some new inner directions/interests that have revealed themselves to you recently? These inner directions can be seen as stakes for your “fall tent”. As you walk towards this season find what is stirring inside you. Choose a couple stakes that can be your reference points for the season.
Reflection 2: Stake out your Place
Just like camping, you can find a space that will hold your tent. In this place you can ponder your dreams, concerns and wishes for this season.
Reflection 3: Pitch your Tent
It is common wisdom to have the door of your tent towards the rising sun, and you will have sunlight and warmth in the wee hours of the morning. What does the internal east mean to you?
Your inner tent is made from your inner callings. This tent, is like an internal alter. Settle on something that will be meaningful to you. Enjoy the walk, the season, and the enchantment of the sunrise.
