Join us for the upcoming Vernal Equinox Sunrise Walk at the Laguna de Santa Rosa March 17 – 19, 2016. We will begin our early morning walk just before dawn. We will meet at 7 AM at the trailhead just before the Chevron gas station, at the Highway 12 entrance. Read more here.
We have been blessed with the starry nights and time to vision within. As you begin to move towards the new year, you can see each star that you have meditated upon, to represent someplace in your heart that will hold you up like a sky-hook. What have your inward visions been? What dreams will hold you up in the New Year?
This is a unique time for the gentle activity of walking and to listen how the earth can speak to you. Please join us for the Winter Solstice Sunrise Walks and let your feet touch the earth, your heart touch the new morning and find inspiration.
The Arrival of Autumn is upon us. The first morning air is crisp and golden. How do you define what is calling you this season? I like to think of these these callings, as stakes for a “fall tent”. What will be your reference points, your stakes that your seasonal tent is built upon?
There are two times a year where you have the opportunity to walk when the length of the days and nights are the same. Once such time is the Autumnal Equinox. What does walking at this time of year offer you? Many birds are migrating and the flowers turn into seeds are just some of the signs of the changing of the seasons. Read more here.
Are you feeling over scheduled? Is there not enough time to get everything accomplished? If you say yes, then you are like most of us. Imagine, on a warm summer day, watching clouds slowly move across the sky. Summer, with all the busy schedules, paradoxically, is the perfect time to sense an inner stillness. Read more about pausing during the Summer Solstice.
Have you ever stopped to contemplate sunlight on the Summer Solstice? What makes this light different? At this time of the year, the sun rises the earliest of the entire year. Maybe the light seems different because Summer Solstice is known as a time when the sun appears to “stand still”. So as we experience the longest days, the lingering light plays upon the earth differently than any other time of the year. In the Summer Solstice Sunrise walks, you will have a chance to meet this light of summer, the stillness of the full sun, and walk in community. Read more here.
The summer solstice is a time of the apparent sun standing still. There are about three weeks when the sunrise only changes over several minutes. During this apparent “standing still” time, what do you want to contemplate, honor and walk with? Join us during this next Summer Solstice Celebration walk in June 2015.
There is a special magic about the Epiphany Sunrise Walks, as a thousand shades of silver lay across the crystal frosted landscape. On this walk, our footsteps were met with a crunching sound as we stepped upon the stomped grasses. Those grasses had been touched by the below freezing temperatures. Find out more here.
We started this morning walk with a short experience of a Feldenkrais exercise by bringing awareness to the way your feet touch the earth, and then we walked in silence to the Laguna. Once we gathered, Terri told stories of the Winter Solstice and what we can learn from this time of year. Throughout history and in many cultures, the Winter Solstice has always been recognized, marked and celebrated. In the Christian tradition, we recognize the time before the Winter Solstice. This is a time when you can sit and wait in the darkness and kindle this inner light and inner fire. It is an active waiting. Read more…
